Emily Granholm is an accomplished dancer and choreographer from the North Shore, who has been on the move since she could walk. She has danced in competitions up and down the east coast and performed in Philadelphia as well as at Disney in Florida. She was trained at North Andover School of Dance and continued her studies with Dance Educators of America training workshops and at the University of the Arts Summer Dance Intensive in Philadelphia. She proudly received her BA in Dance from Dean College in May of 2007. Over the years, Emily has studied with many great choreographers, dancers, and master teachers such as Jill Silverman, Nailah Randall-Bellinger, Mary-Anne Kodzis, Judie Clark, Maurice Hines, Kelly Peters, Jean Appalon, Troy Powell, Denise Jefferson, “Lady Di” Walker, JT Jenkins, Bob E. Thomas and many more. After college, Emily performed with Perceptions Contemporary Dance Company and she also served as the Assistant Artistic Director of Dance Company Worcester from December 2007 to June 2009 where she danced, choreographed and produced three shows. The summer of 2009, Emily and Katie Huminik founded Stylized Movement. Stylized Movement is a diverse, collaborative group of individuals (dancers, choreographers, musicians, artists) who are working through their medium in an effort to give back to the community. In trying to promote the arts, Stylized Movement focuses on contributing to the community as well as enriching the arts, spotlighting both individuality and team work. In August of 2010, Stylized Movement received their non-profit (501c3) status and through this she hopes to join forces with other local charities and non-profits in an effort to impact this world in a positive way. Obviously changing the world is a lofty goal, but if everyone does a little bit, we can make a HUGE impact. The arts have inspired, engaged, enlightened, and defined many people for decades. Emily hopes to shine light on the significance of the arts and help grow and define them throughout the region.
