Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Named America's Cultural Ambassador to the World, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has brought African American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to audiences around the globe for more than 50 years. The genius of Alvin Ailey forever changed the perception of American dance; today, the legacy continues with Kennedy Center Honoree Judith Jamison's remarkable vision and the extraordinary artistry of the Company's dancers. This season celebrates Judith Jamison's 20th anniversary as artistic director.

For its annual Kennedy Center engagement, the company presents a week of mixed programs that promise audience favorites as well as new works by today's most inventive choreographers. And to further delight the company's devoted fans, each program features Revelations, Alvin Ailey's "ever-touching" and "enduring megahit" (The Washington Post).
