Essence Dance Company is a professional, all-female dance company founded in 2005 by dancer, choreographer, and Artistic Director Gigi Torres. Created as an artistic outlet and professional avenue of opportunity, Essence seeks to share the unique stories of its talented artists and encourage all individuals to “Just Be & Live.” Holding true to their sisterhood, they represent the epitome of what female entertainers should be - full of dignity, respect, and strength.
What Is Her Empire Productions?
Her Empire Productions LLC, was founded in 2011 by Essence Dance Company’s Founder & Director, Gigi Torres. Her Empire Productions first began as an idea in 2002, as she planned galas, reunions, birthdays, weddings, and countless soirées before dedicating herself to her career as an international dancer, choreographer, and instructor. 8 years in the making, Gigi worked toward assimilating her extensive knowledge in Event Production and her experience the Arts & Entertainment Industry to finally birth “Her Empire.” Specializing in event production, Her Empire Productions aims bring top of the line services to all ends of the entertainment spectrum, from artists to major corporations. Striving to be the premier provider of Event Services, Her Empire Productions guarantees a unique caliber of arts event production - one of class, poise, and professionalism.
What is Jenesse Center Incorporated?
Jenesse Center, Inc. is the oldest domestic violence intervention program in South Los Angeles. The Center was founded in 1980 by five African American women who were survivors of domestic violence. Our mission is to provide victims of domestic violence with a comprehensive, centralized base of support to assist them in addressing their immediate crisis and changing the patterns of their lives.
