| description: | LACDC premieres evening length production of their critically acclaimed work “Gods and Marionettes” "The choreography was a knockout and Sonos is an electrifying force unto its own..." – Tony Frankel, StageandCinema.Com "an effective and fully integrated use of music, the spoken word, theater and of course dance..." - Steven Woodruff, DancePlug.Com After a successful debut at the Ford Amphitheater this summer, LACDC will premiere the evening length production of Gods and Marionettes as part USC’s Arts and Humanities Initiative “Vision and Voices” which is co-sponsored by USC Spectrum. The remounting and further development of this piece continues to recognize the collaboration between LACDC Artistic Director, Kate Hutter with LACDC, USC Theater Professor, David Bridel, and composer Christopher Given Harrison with live vocals by the famed a capella group, SONOS. Gods and Marionettes is a unique fusion of dance, music and theatre. Based on the great myths of Greek tragedy, the production is inspired by the creator’s research into the primitive ingredients of tragic theatre: text, movement and song. Six singers, seven dancers and a single actor will present a startling, epic investigation into the role of the gods in our lives, both ancient and modern.
