| description: | Lineage Dance presents “The Pasadena Dance Festival 2010”, the 3rd Annual Pasadena Dance Festival. Hubbard Street 2 (HS2) of Chicago will be featured artists at the Festival. Proceeds to Benefit the Pasadena Educational Foundation Arts Fund For the Festival Concert, Lineage Dance is pleased to present Hubbard Street 2 (HS2) of Chicago, along with 8 of the Los Angeles areas’ top dance companies. Hubbard Street will be performing in Los Angeles in April – so the Festival provides a sneak preview of the beauty of this internationally acclaimed dance company. Lineage Dance is delighted to welcome Hubbard Street 2 – building on the collaboration between Los Angeles and Chicago! This partnership was developed by Glenn Edgerton, the Artistic Director of Hubbard Street, who directed The Colburn Dance Institute at The Colburn School of Performing Arts in Los Angeles from 2006-2008. Audience members will be captivated with the Hubbard Street 2 duet called, “ Gimme”. A witty and playful duet by HSDC Associate Artistic Director Lucas Crandall, Gimme is set to the rustic score of the Norwegian group Blå Bergens Borduner. The music’s variations on tempo and rhythm emphasize the changing emotional dynamic between the two dancers. Both passionate and ironic, Gimme immerses the senses in color and delight. Hubbard Street 2 was formed twelve years ago to prepare dancers 17 - 24 years old for the challenging life of a professional dancer in a contemporary company. HS2 provides very talented young dancers with a professional experience through which they may explore and mature in their craft while becoming comfortable with diverse performance venues. Another outstanding highlight of the Festival Concert is the new company, Luminario Ballet presenting choreography by Jamal Story of Complexions, The piece entitled, “If the Walls Could Scream” is a feast for the senses. The Festival Concert line-up includes some of the finest emerging dance companies of the region, providing the audience with a delightful and engaging blend of classical, contemporary and next wave dance. The full roster for the Festival Concert includes Capoiera Batuque, Hubbard Street 2, KIN Dance Company Lineage Dance, Luminario Ballet, Lux Aeterna, Revelations Dance, Terri Best Dance, and Yogen’s Bollywood Step,. The Festival classes are open to all levels through professional – from ages 12 through adult. During the day, dancers and fitness enthusiasts may select from a wide variety of classes including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Modern, Hip Hop, Bollywood, Break Dancing, Belly Dancing, Pilates, Yoga, Argentine Salsa, Swing and more! A few of the teachers back by popular demand include Glen Eddy of the Colburn School’s Trudl Zipper Dance Institute, Glenn Edgerton of Hubbard Street, “Kujo” Lyons, Jamie Nichols, Frit and Frat Fuller and Terri Best.
