Hi everybody,
I´ve been looking for convincing Informations (rules) about breathing (brust? stomach? when inhale-exhale?) in dancing and using that for teaching. I see more clear in how to breathe while stretching (ex), while working on the abdominals(ex), during the contractions(ex) or in the pliés(in?). But the question is, how to use all that while dancing, for example during the turns, or between the "clear" movements like contractions?
Is there someone, who can help me?
Thanks a lot, Carmen

one thing that hasn't been
one thing that hasn't been mentioned but i try to pay attention to is breath along with musicality. during a combination in class i listen to the song a lot (A LOT) and pay attention to how it fits with the choreography and that itself lends to certain breathing patterns. i try to notice when exhaling and inhaling give my movements different textures and then see which fits better with the musicality of the song. just something to think about:)
Thank you so much, Nicolae
Thank you so much, Nicolae and Adam. I appreciate your helps a lot. What you wrote, Adam, is exactly what I learnt from you, while you were teaching in Stuttgart. Now, that it`s written, I do understand more of the structure behind. From your answer Nicolae, I took the consequence for myself, that I have to trust my own feeling for the right breathe and conact this with the knowledge I have. Thanks a lot for the interest in the question and go on talking about it!
Hey! Breathing and
Hey! Breathing and coordination has so much in common!Iam doing exercises with my students in the floor barre theaching them how to feel the breath going up and down though the spine until they establish a personal ritm then moving on to more complex movements. For pirruetes i discover that in the preparetions is halping to stabilse the body if you breath in and in the moment of plie breathing out pushing the shoulders down and makeing the alonge biger like an extension of the body. I guess profesinals dancers they succed to have there own rithm , and its all about the teacher to creat a dicipline for the beginers. And of course much more we can sey....i will be around.
Wow Carmen, thats a great
Wow Carmen, thats a great topic to talk about!
Well for myself, its kind of complex. I know in my warm up, I am very focused and gathering breathe into my lungs and distributing that oxygen to all part of the body. With the release of the breathe I direct that oxygen or energy to the specific part of the body that I am warming up.
For instance, when I raise my arms up to the side, I imagine having more space for my lungs to expand and so take deep strong breaths. Boy, I could write for hours on this! Ill be back!
