I must have seen A Chorus Line a thousand times, but until Every Little Steps, I had no idea how it all started. It was great to see the origins and process of Michael Bennett's creation. Of course I believe the movie is a big marketing tool for the Broadway revival, but it's smartly done and it is very interesting.
I also didn't know a Broadway "casting" could take that long... I mean 8 months... that's a reaaaally long time! Makes me wonder what people choose do you do when they get callbacks on other jobs. I know I always have trouble making those kinds of decisions: do I wait to see if I possibly get job #1 which I really want, or do I take #2 that is offered to me for sure?
One funny thing I've noticed in the movie is that we follow most of the female lead roles auditions, but barely any of the male leads, besides Mike's and Paul's. mmmm.... Why is that? Male auditions weren't interesting enough? No good footage, maybe? I mean of course the production probably needed some egocentric drama bs (not pointing fingers... ;-) to keep the audience excited, but I would have much rather see Richie's casting and watch some great dancing, than listen to a self-centered monologue.
Anyway, overall, definitely a movie to watch even if you already know the story of A Chorus Line.

Yes I agree with Anh entirely
Yes I agree with Anh entirely on this movie. It was done very well, incorporating the current and archival footage from audition procedure to the audio tapes of Michael Bennett's sessions. Building a creative process that organically manifests into a show from the talent the surrounds us is a very special experience. Roles crafted around your own experiences give you the opportunity to deliver an honest performance.
Ah yes the never ending battle of do I wait and see or take the next job! I think this haunts all of us without a doubt. Our decision has to be a congruent one that fulfills our passion otherwise we will never make a happy one!
