I play some rock ban and guitar hero on occasion. Fun times, but I'll just point this out.
Guitar Hero - Involves a fake guitar
Rock Band - Involves fake guitar, drums, and microphone
DJ Hero - Involves a fake turntable
Tiger Woods Golf - Not at all realistic, but at least you have to pretend to swing a golf club. Well, on the wii you do. On Xbox 360 you use the controller you flick the thumb pad, but the same could be said for almost any video game. Well, except DUCK HUNT!!!
but...
Dance Dance Revolution - Involves nothing that even resembles a dance move I have ever used.

From an artists' standpoint (and I've had many conversations about these items)... take a look at the following:
1 Guitar Hero
2 Band Hero
3 Dance Dance Revolution
4 DJ Hero (somebody kill me now)
5 Tiger Woods Golf on wii
Totally FUN games if you're interested in the artforms, but any guitar/bass player, drummer, dancer, DJ or golfer knows that what's in the game is so far from the truth that it just becomes funny.
A Dancer and DJ myself - I can't hate on DDR and DJ Hero. I can't remember how many DJ's I've heard downtalking the game. Think about how many guitar players... etc feel the same way.
Eh, it is what it is - they (the machine), take what's "hot", put it in a box and sell it back to us for more than it's worth.
Granted, you'll never find me playing DDR or DJ hero, but since I don't play guitar well, I will rock out on some guitar hero - because it's hilariously fun and makes me (and many other players), feel like a rockstar.
So DDR for mr 250lbs and an acne problem just found an inexpensive way to lose some weight!
So I was leaving a late night movie a number of years back and I glance over to see 2 large 6 '4 goth guys in trench coats going insane on a DDR machine in the video game center of the movie theater. We watched them pump quarters into this thing for the next 10 minutes. Truly the most interesting thing I have ever seen. 2 large sweaty 250 lbs goth guys in trench coats sweating it out like crazy to happy techno music.
If you can really dance it just doesn't make sense.

Never tried it... but it looks pretty silly! I guess it's good for kids coordination - I saw a video of a 6-year old playing DDR, he was really good. As an adult, and especially a dancer, not sure it gives much satisfaction!

Just my two cents...
