Imagine spending months and months working on your dance concert to find out halfway through the show that more than 80% of the audience sneaked in to the theater. Take a moment and think about that......

Yes this is the upside and downside to the internet. Everything is so accessible online. All great things can come of it but these are the downsides.
The cost or purchasing songs has come way down and now that you can purchase one song is a huge plus. I remember having to buy the whole album on LP, Cassette or CD to get that one song. Not anymore.
Yes and the right to play these tracks is a whole other issue. Anytime you air this music and you are in an environment where you can make money you have to pay a fee because the fact of the matter is the music has helped you make a sale! It seems crazy I know but even stores now have set music which they have paid the right to use.
I must say I am a huge fan of creating your own music and better still get some live musicians!! That is how BPM beatsperminute came about:

This is true, but did you also know that in order to legally use this music you have already bought, you have to pay an annual fee to certain companies like BMI and other such corporations? I learned this the hard way when two of their representatives were hounding us for months to join and then had the audacity to lie about who they were to gather more information about us! To all readers: Please be cautious of ALL music you use... license to use music is the price we pay for freedom of movement sometimes!

I agree! Especially when songs only cost 99 cents on itunes and 1.29 on amazon.com! I am speaking to kids on this subject right now, expressing to them in a similar way that you have just conveyed Anthony. Its important people!
