I wanted to tell people of some conventions that I love and why....
LADF - As some of you might know, I am on this convention and have to say that it is one of the best conventions out there! Why- We have one of the most diverse faculties out there with all different experiences. Although our faculty constantly work in the entertainment industry, we are known for our quality of teaching. Not many conventions can offer you Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Contemporary, African, and Salsa all in one weekend! Some of the other great things LADF has to offer are:
Convention Scholarships
Scholarships to the Edge Performing Arts Center
Studio Scholarships( We pay for a dancers tuition at their studio!)
College Scholarship(We give a certain amount to a dancer or person who wants to go to college!)
Dance with the Force - This doozy is great! If you are chosen, you get to come out to Los Angeles and dance at the edge for 3 months with some of the best teachers and choreographers in the industry! As well, you get to learn a dance from a respected choreographer and perform it in the Edge Scholarship show!
Log onto www.LADF.com to get all the details and hopefully ill see you in your city!
Dance Excellence
I love this convention for the simple face that It is truly an international event! Director Annie McQuitty bring together studios from all over the United States as well as studios from China, Japan, England, Italy, Mexico, Ireland, Australia, Germany and the list is growing! It's an amazing site to see all these young dancers from all over the world dance together, laughing, learning to speak other languages, making new friends. Its an inspiring event as Annie and her super staff not only bring in great teachers such as Doug Caldwell, Mark Meismer, and Suzy Miller and Anindo Marshall to name a few, they also take the dancers to a Los Angeles event such as a show, movie or the always fun Disneyland! She also has a show for the convention with some great dance companies and choreographers to inspire the dancers!
Check out www.defestival.com to find more infomation. You will love it!
Global Dance Convention in Australia is a very well run, tons of fun convention! It is held in Sydney and has a great faculty(Adam Parson, Gregg Russell, Barry Youngblood, Alison Faulk, Gustavo Vargas, and more) There is a fanstastic prize that they give to dancers who audition first by video, then live, oooh its good! You have to go to www.globaldance.com.au to find out!
Pacific Coast Dance Fest is a summer intensive that brings some of the best teachers in the business to Cal State Long Beach. The intensive has teachers such as Adam Parson(hee hee) Mark Meismer, Doug Caldwell, Kerri LeGrand, Tina D'Amato-Sidoni, and others. Located at the Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Complex, this center features state of the art rooms complete with marly floors. This is one you dont want to miss! www.pacificcoastdancefest.com

As a young dancer, I grew up
As a young dancer, I grew up in LADF conventions. With people like Rhonda Miller, Carol Conner, Bill Prudich, etc... on faculty, i learned that dance was a lot more than doing steps, it was about affecting lives. I later became a teacher and brought my students to our first LADF convention in Tulsa this year. It was so great to see them get to enjoy the faculty much in the same way that I did when i was their age. We had a great weekend and will definately be back next year hopefully with a group of 6 year olds!!! Thanks Adam, we had a blast and thoroughly enjoyed your classes!
I'm looking forward to using
I'm looking forward to using my 4week scholarship that I received at LADF, by far one of the best conventions I've ever been too!
I'll agree:) As an
I'll agree:) As an assistant with LADF we have an incredible time each and every weekend. We truly are a family and everyone on faculty inspires me every time I see them dance. It's like renewed energy each time we're out together.
I also had an incredible time assisting Adam at last year's Dance Excellence. I've never been in a room with so much energy, love, and desire to learn shared by all. The beauty of all the different cultures coming together for our communal love of dance was awe inspiring.
If any student out there has the opportunity to go to either of those conventions I would suggest going. You'll be better for it:)
