Francisco Thurston

Hey Everybody!
Francisco here! Proud to be a recent Edge Scholarship Graduate (08-09). Entering the dance industry has been one of the most invigorating, exciting, toughest experiences ive encountered thus far but eager to see where it takes me and what it holds for me.

Currently doing a workstudy at IDA Hollywood and dancing at Debbie Reynolds to continue my training and getting the opportunity to broaden my dance vocabulary by training with other sets of teachers in different styles. I love being one of the many trying to make things happen for themselves, and love being around all the amazing energy, and getting to dance with the many great amounts of talent, and different personalities of all the dancers in LA!

Started with my dance training in 2004 at a performing arts high school called Arts Academy in the Woods where it was just a past time for me, trying to just get by high school. Did not start my training seriously till 2007 when I attended a competitive studio called Underground Dance Company. Where I trained with them rigourously and got the opportunity to compete with them regionally and nationally.

My biggest accomplishments on my resume thus far being in LA, would have to be: just recently, booked Toyko Disney and will be departing for that August 9th for 9 months!! Also, booked a Cartoon Network commercial that will be playing in AMC Theatres/Cinemark/Regal theatres for a year upon release (Dowd and Roman Casting), booked a Disney "Summer Dance" promo w/Choreographer and Dancer Chucky Klapow, having the opportunity to work with Michael Rooney on a submission for the movie "Damn Yankee's," and performing in FIVE carnivals already and in THREE industry shows for studios. Also, a BMW Industrial back in Michigan, and getting to travel to New York for a hairshow w/Choreographer and Dancer Trevor Kent this past 2009.

Just recently got to choreograph my first piece in LA for the Hot Latin Nights Showcase for IDA Hollywood (May 15th, 2010)! Was excited to share my creativity with the industry for my first time, definitely not my last!

Currently started subbing Hip Hop and Jazz/Jazz Technique at the new and upcoming IDA Hollywood, also jazz/lyrical/ballet at a studio in Woodland Hills called Dance Dimensions. Will be traveling to Guatemala and Hawaii to teach over the summer, and teaching a two week summer intensive in michigan at Grosse Isle Dance! So excited to pass on my knowledge and creative mind to other bodies! Choreography projects soon to come.

Looking to get into different aspects of the entertainment industry with interviewing/corresponding - check out my first interviews with DANCEPLUG under MY LINKS - Also looking into getting into work with Dance Agencies and becoming a dance agent. Those are some long term goals for you.

Really excited to see what I can offer to the industry and what i'm going to achieve in my career, with plans for longevity.
