COMMUNITY

What is the difference between friends and followers?

Friends is a two-way relationship, as a follower is only one-way.
Being friend with another Plugger, allows both you and your friend to see each other’s updates in the Pulse (new info, photos, videos, status updates, etc...).

As a follower, a Plugger gets to stay updated with the Followee’s work (change of info, new photos, videos, status updates, etc...) - but the Followee does not have any connection with its followers unless they become friends.

How do I make connections?

There are different ways to make friends:

  • Use the DancePlug Search to find people you know and then click the “Add Friend” button on the right. If they are already your friend, the button will read “Remove Friend”.
  • If you already are viewing a Plugger’s Profile, click the "Add Friend" button below their picture.
  • You can also see Pluggers “you might know” on your homepage.

A friend request will be sent to that person. Once they confirm your request, they will be added to your Friends List.

How do I remove a friend?

There are two ways to remove a friend:

  • Go to the Community tab, and click on the “remove friend” button next to your friend’s info.
  • Go to your Friend’s Profile page and click on the button “remove friend” below their picture.

If you select this option, you will be removed from their Friends List as well. The Plugger removed will not be able to request a friendship. If you wish to be friends again, you will need to initiate the friend request.

Who shows up in my “friends box”?

Your "friends box" shows the thumbnails of randomly selected friends. The Pluggers displayed will change every time the page is refreshed. To see all your friends, go to your Community page.

There is no way to pick the friends that show up in that box.

Can I invite other people to join DancePlug?

Yes, you can invite anyone you want by using the "Tell a Friend" feature.

Click on the "Tell a Friend" grey button, which you can find in the narrow column. In the pop-up, enter your contacts e-mails (up to 100 e-mails at a time), add a message if you'd like, and send!

ONLINE DANCE CLASSES (OUTLETS)

What is an “Outlet” (online dance class)?

We call an Outlet, an online dance class video that you can rent and learn from.

There are three different types of Outlets:

  • Basics: these are free for Pluggers (users) who want to learn and discover their hidden dance talents in Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz & Tap.
  • Exercises: these covers one to two counts of 8 exercises through to across-the-floor work.
  • Combinations: these are choreographed routine on a particular style with music - generally eight counts of 8 or twelve counts of 6.

All Outlets include the following features:

  • Controls: pause, rewind and fast-forward at your own leasure.
  • Slow motion: each class is slowed down for you to easily pick up details while you learn the choreography.
  • Split screen: you can learn from front and back views at the same time so as not to miss hidden details (front view on the left, back view on the right).
  • Full-screen: clear a space and really experience your class by using the full-screen capabilities
  • Voice over: videos are accompanied by the instructor voicing over the counts or steps with the choreography.
  • Notes: written tips from the choreographer will accompany each Outlet.

What styles and levels do the Online Classes offer?

Exercises and combinations on offer are for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels in the following dance styles: Ballet, Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Jazz Funk, Lyrical and Tap, with more to come in the future!

We call an Outlet, a dance combination or exercise that you can rent and learn from.

Can I see an Online Dance Class (Outlet) demo?

Or course you can, click here to view the demo or go to our Classes page and click on the demo in the left column.

How can I rent an Online Dance Class (Outlet)?

The rentals of Outlets work on a credit system. You pre-purchase credits and then redeem them for Outlets. Credits can be acquired from the store in two different ways:

  • By “Powerstrips” packages (one-off purchase)
  • Through monthly subscription (regular credits)

Once you have credits, go to the Classes page:

  1. Browse through all the Outlets;
  2. Click on the one you wish to view, a preview of the class will appear in the video player with its details to the right;
  3. If you wish to rent it, click on the button “use credits” to the right of the player.

The cost of an Outlet starts at $1.85 (depending on the subscription or package and the type of Outlet), plus applicable taxes.

Do credits expire?

Credits have different expiries depending on how they were purchased:

  • Powerstrips: credits have a one year expiry from the date of purchase.
  • Monthly subscriptions: credits expire at the end of each monthly cycle.

How long can I keep an Outlet for?

Online dance classes have different expiries:

  • If the credits used were purchased through a Powerstrip, a user can view the rented Outlet for 10 days.
  • If on a monthly subscription, a Plugger gets to keep all the rented Outlets until the subscription is cancelled.

What Outlet shows in the “Outlet box” on my Homepage?

Your “My Outlets" box on your Homepage shows randomly selected rented Outlets. To see all your Outlets, go to "My Outlets" on the Classes page.

There is no way to pick the Outlets that show up in that box.

The video player doesn’t work.

To be able to view videos seamlessly, you need:

What is “My Outlets”?

The “My Outlets” tab is where you can view all the Outlets you are currently renting.

I rented an Outlet and cannot view it.

Please check the following, if you cannot view a rented Outlet:

  • Make sure your Outlet has not expired: if you are not on a subscription, Outlets are viewable for 10 days from the date of rental.
  • If you have a slow connection, the video might be taking time to buffer (you have to have DSL to be able to view Outlets)
  • If the Outlet is still in its date-range and you cannot view it, please contact our technical support team.

I would like to advertise on an Outlet Video.

Anyone can sponsor an Outlet. Contact us for more details on being a sponsor.
