Just got back from Phoenix 2011 (Held in Hamilton New Zealand), I had the most amazing weekend of my life!
Kia Ora (Hello) Everyone!
I am Joel Walsham from AKL New Zealand "Down Under". I am have been doing jazz since I was 3 years old and it is my absolute love! I also study Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Latin and Musical Theatre. I was born in Palmaston North and I attended gym until I was old enough to start dancing (the lower limit was three years old) but apparently at gym I spent all of my time on the dance mats anyway.
I attended Dean McKerras School of Dance until I was 7 years old and at that point I moved up Auckland (as my Father re-trained as a Chiropracter which is quite handy for a dancer) and had to change dance schools. When I moved we had heard of a dance school called "The Dance Studio" that also had a company called BOYZDANCE2 (not because there was a boyzdance1 but it was meaning boys dance as well as girls, which I think is a very important message). I have been at The Dance Studio ever since we moved and I also moved into studying drama at New Zealand's foremost academy, Aspiring Young Actors (AYA - aya.co.nz).
The dream is to end up dancing in the USA!
- Joel Walsham
