10th Edition of the Los Angeles Dance Invitational

Dance makers are invited to upload video of a finished, original work for consideration in the 10th edition of the LA Dance Invitational, which will be presented at the John Anson Ford Amphitheater in Los Angeles in August 2011, date to be determined.

Primary consideration will be given to works never before presented to an audience in California. All dance genres are welcome. The LADI Board of Directors gives special consideration to new and emerging choreographers and dance makers. If you have never had your choreography reviewed in Los Angeles, you are strongly encouraged to submit your work.

Please note: The Ford Amphitheater is an outdoor venue. All performances are presented after dark. You are strongly encouraged to visit the website (http://www.fordamphitheater.org/index/) and study this venue to determine whether or nor your choreography is appropriate for this space.

To be eligible for an invitation, you must submit the following materials, along with the completed Entry Form:

  1. Uploaded video of your complete choreography that you wish to perform. It must not exceed seven minutes in its entirety;
  2. Proof of copyright ownership of the choreography you are submitting. For example, if you wish to present a work of choreography you did not create, you will need to provide written permission from the choreographer or his/her representatives to use this choreography. By checking the box on this application, you are taking responsibility for copyright ownership and relieving LADI from liability;
  3. Proof of copyright ownership or permission to use recorded music to which your dance making was choreographed. For example, if you wish to submit a piece choreographed to music by Prince, you must check the box on the application. You are then taking responsibility for copyright ownership and relieving LADI from liability;
  4. A digital format black and white photo of the choreographer/artistic director whose work is being submitted (jpeg preferred);
  5. Digital black and white action photos, if you have them;
  6. A complete and edited biography of the artistic director/choreographer whose work is being submitted, not to exceed 100 words.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS DECEMBER 31, 2010. INVITATIONS WILL BE ISSUED IN FEBRUARY, 2011.
