BalletX seeks creative, passionate, and highly motivated dance Teaching Artists for its in-school education program, Dance eXchange, in the 2023-2024 school year.

Production Info

Dance eXchange Teaching Artists work with 3rd and 4th grade students at five Philadelphia public schools during school hours. Through the program, students gain a basic dance vocabulary, a deeper understanding of dance as a performing art form, and an opportunity to excel at something altogether new, in the presence of their peers.


Dance eXchange Teaching Artists receive a minimum starting fee of $25-$30 per hour for teaching duties, commensurate with experience, and $15 per hour for administrative duties. All BalletX Teaching Artists and program staff are required to have appropriate criminal and child abuse clearances, as defined by BalletX.


Teaching Artist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Co-lead weekly, in-person classes in Dance eXchange partner schools.
  • With fellow program staff, create accessible, responsive, and dynamic choreography that highlights students’ abilities, develops students’ skills and artistic expression, and aligns with program goals.
  • With fellow program staff, design and lead culminating performances that reflect the annual curricular theme.
  • Participate in required professional development, including workshops and training.
  • Participate in annual program evaluation and reporting.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with BalletX administrative staff, teaching artist teams, and school partners.
