Edinburgh International Festival is looking for a diverse dynamic cohort of talented dancers keen to make their mark on the world stage to perform in the 2023 Festival with world-renowned modern company Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. We are seeking a diverse cast of professional dance artists at the start of the careers who live in, trained in or were born in Scotland.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will bring two programmes to the Edinburgh International Festival in August 2023, showcasing recent works from the most dynamic choreographers of today and classic pieces by founder Alvin Ailey.
Programme 1 includes Aszure Barton’s BUSK, which examines the multi-layered wisdom of the body, and Kyle Abraham’s Are You in Your Feelings? a celebration of Black culture and music.
Programme 2 includes Ailey’s The River and Memoria, the latter of which features selected dancers from across Scotland performing alongside the company.
Both programmes include the beloved masterpiece Revelations; the most widely viewed modern dance work in the world, presented on the main stage at the Festival Theatre, as part of the Edinburgh International Festival’s programme. This is an opportunity for you to audition to be one of a selected cohort of dancers from across Scotland that will perform alongside the company.
Rehearsals: 14–23 August 2023
Performance: 24– 25 August 2023

This fully paid and supported professional freelance opportunity will be a phenomenal start to your career in the dance industry.
Audition travel bursary (if required)
Rehearsal and performance fee of £1,200 (£600 per week)

Requirements
Dancers should be aged between 18–25 years old and have no more than three previous paid professional credits.
Dancers trained to a professional level in contemporary or ballet…. If you are professionally trained in another style but feel able to perform contemporary repertoire, please do send an application.
