Description

Refracted Theatre Company is casting non-union dancers/actors/performers for a live movement-based, devised, safety-driven workshop of I Couldn’t Tell You Why.

Production Info

Rehearsals will be in-person and will take place in outdoor spaces throughout New York. Performers will be asked to adhere with the Refracted Theatre Company Covid-19 Safety Protocol, which includes obligations surrounding testing, temperature checks, and PPE.

Rehearsals:
Mon - Fri 4/26 - 5/20 (4 hours per day, 4 days per week, with 1 day/week blocked off in case there is rain that cancels a rehearsal)

Day of Rehearsal/Performances:
5/21, 5/22, 5/28, 5/29 (rain date weekend 6/5, 6/6)

Compensation/Fee

$300 Stipend

Requirements

Actors auditioning should live in or be able to commute easily to New York City.

Roles

  • PERFORMER #1: Male, Black, 20s-30s, dancer/actor. All performers will be collaborating with the director to devise an original movement-based interpretation of the audio-play I Couldn’t Tell You Why. This is an ensemble piece and all performers will play multiple roles throughout the performance. Performers with experience in dance, contact improvisation, mime, movement-based theatre performance and devised theatre will be given priority in the casting process, but all should feel encouraged to apply.
