Two tickets to The Mariinsky Ballet & Orchestra - Cinderella at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Saturday, October 10, 2015.

Quiz: Which of the following is not a former name of the Mariinsky Ballet?
Answer: St Petersburg Ballet

Founded in the 18th century, the Mariinsky Ballet underwent a lot of changes linked to political events. First named the Imperial Russian Ballet, it was changed to the Soviet Ballet following the Russian Revolution and fall of the tsarist government. In the 1930s, it became the famous Kirov Ballet, named after Bolchevik Sergey Kirov. It now bears its current name "Mariinsky" along with its home theatre.

With the right shoes, your whole life could change! St. Petersburg’s world–renowned Mariinsky Ballet opens our season with Alexei Ratmansky’s Cinderella. Set to Prokofiev’s haunting score and performed by Mariinsky’s own orchestra, Ratmansky reinvigorates the classic story-ballet with vibrant choreography, feisty humor, and a glamorous 1930’s twist!
