MamLuft&Co. Dance is a non-profit, resident modern dance company based in Cincinnati, Ohio and founded in 2007.
Recently named “Best Dance Company Pushing the Envelope” by CityBeat in 2012 and awarded “Best Design Concept” by the League of Cincinnati Theatres for the 2013 Cincinnati Fringe Festival, ML&Co. has been described by CityBeat’s Rick Pender as a company that “will both impress you with technique and provoke you with thoughtful choreography.”
The organization is in its eighth season (in 2014-2015) of working to bring more Modern Dance (and a better understanding of it) to more people in innovative and palpable ways. Its performer-collaborators—who are originally from Texas, Tennessee, New Jersey, Nebraska, Virginia, New York, and of course, Ohio—create modern dance performances, education, and outreach.
Under the direction of Jeanne Mam-Luft and Company Choreographer Susan Honer, the company seeks to provide opportunities for artists and audiences to create, advocate for, and educate through Modern Dance that is both accessible and also challenging at the same time.
Recently, the company works regularly with composer Mike Wall (Utah) and has commissioned dance work from artists Amii LeGendre (independent artist and Pat Graney Company), Sarah Gamblin (independent artist, formerly with Bebe Miller Company and Bill Young & Dancers), Jefferson James (Contemporary Dance Theater), and Betsy Miller (Propel-her Dance Collective co-founder).
