Nancy Evans Dance Theatre is a modern/contemporary based company made up of 6-8 members and guest artists/choreographers. The company was established in September of 2009 in Pasadena, California, under the Artistic Direction of Nancy Evans Doede, and had its inaugural performances in June of 2010 in evenings of original choreography entitled WORKS 2010: A DANCE COLLABORATIVE, in association with Paradigm Dance Theatre.
The success of the first season of performances led to a 2010-2011 season that included performances at the 4th Annual Pasadena Dance Festival, “Standing On The Edge”, “Concordance”, as producer of and performers in “Friends/Family”, and WORKS 2011: A DANCE COLLABORATIVE, our second concert series in conjunction with Paradigm Dance Theatre.
In just over a year, NEDT has established a repertory of 8 new works, including “SHIFT”, a half-evening piece with original score composed by percussionist Blake Colie.
Our production of “Friends/Family” featured the works of company members and guest choreographers, as well as the works of other companies in our dance community, including Kin Dance, Paradigm Dance Theatre, Robert Salas’ Moorpark Touring Ensemble, and local choreographers Donna Cicchesi and Mallory Russo. This concert was conceived to bring together diverse work from Los Angeles based choreographers and companies and foster visibility and appreciation for dance.
