Dance education has been a hot topic lately, with more and more schools building and growing dance programs that not only focus on technical training, but the study of dance as a deep and truly intellectual art form. As an industry, we can’t only train great dancers - we need to train great instructors too. Teachers College at Columbia University in NYC agrees. A $4.36 million (yes, we said million) gift from former public school dance teacher and 92nd Street Y founder Jody Gottfried Arnhold will fund a new doctoral program to teach the people who teach dance teachers. (Did you get all that?). Amazing - let’s get teachin’!
