Dancing is good for the brain

In a (not so) shocking twist, a new study from the journal Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience shows that moving and dancing is good for your brain, especially as you get older!

To conduct their research, a group of scientists took a pool of test subjects whose ages ranged from their sixties to seventies and separated them into three groups. The first group spent a set amount of time walking, the second began a consistent stretching schedule, and the third began taking country dance lessons.

After six months of testing, the study showed that the member of the group that had been dancing had improved mental functions and improved conditions in the fornix, which is the part of the brain that handles memory and processing speed.
