Emily Thompson grew up at a studio in Los Angeles, Simi Dance Center, at the age 6 and began teaching and choreographing when she was 15. In 2013 she graduated from The University of Arizona with her BFA in Dance so she could broaden her training in dancing and singing. Arizona has opened up remarkable opportunities for her which she hopes to take on in 2013. Emily was able to catch the eye of a professional company called River North Dance Company and was accepted to their 2012 summer intensive in Chicago. In January 2012, Emily auditioned for Cirque Du Soleil in Las Vegas, Nevada. Out of a total of 450 dancers, Emily was part of the remaining 11 that got accepted to be in the Cirque Du Soleil database. Recently, Emily has found a love for Aerial work. She has been training in tissue (silks) with many well known Aerialist in hopes to perform Aerial in professional shows around the world. Emily has worked with many teachers and choreographers such as the Simi Dance Center faulty, Mark Meismer, Keri Lagrand, Zach Woodlee (Choreographer from Glee), Spencer Liff (Musical Theatre Choreographer from “So You Think You Can Dance”), Desiree Robbins, Sam Watson, Michael Williams, and Miki Orihara (Martha Graham principle dancer). Thanks to these inspiring people, Emily started her audition career at the age of 13 signing with a company called MSA (McDonald Selznick Associates). When Emily booked her first Nintendo N-R-G commercial choreographed by Zack Woodlee, she knew this was the career she wanted to pursue. When she was a senior in High School, Emily was part of the Tremaine Dance Company traveling to city after city, assisting the teachers and performing almost every weekend. Keri LaGrand was part of the Tremaine faulty and gave Emily the opportunity to perform her piece, “In This Shirt” at Dee Caspary’s Nvitational in the summer of 2011. Emily’s most recent work she has done is filmed a segment for the American Horror Stories on FX. This was her first acting debut and she hopes to continue with it to explore different genres of films and commercials. As an artist and teacher, Emily’s primary goal is to invoke, inspire, and create a truly visceral experience. She hopes to learn more about herself and whom she is becoming by taking as many opportunities that comer her way. Emily’s love for dance cannot be matched.
