12 year old Sofia Isabella is in her third full year of studying and training in ballet and contemporary dance in Detroit, Michigan. Training under the guidance of Madame Olga Korotaeva, Perm State Choreographic Institute (Perm Ballet), her training consists of classes in classical ballet, pointe, variations, character, repertoire, and contemporary, dancing 6 days a week. In 2017, Sofia was honored to be named a Dance Ambassador representing Detroit for the Ballet in the City organization for 2017 as well as continue her Brand Ambassadorship for Russian Pointe Brand.
In 2016, Sofia was honored to be named Russian Pointe Brand's "One to Watch" for 2016 at the Youth American Grand Prix, as well Brand Ambassador. She was also named Community Ambassador for Ivivva Athletic Wear. In her first Youth American Grand Prix competition in 2015 at the Chicago semi-finals, Sofia achieved Top 12 soloist in the contemporary dance category. She is also honored to have achieved a Top 12 soloist in the contemporary dance category at the Indianapolis semi-finals of the Youth American Grand Prix.
In the summer of 2015, she went on to complete her first summer intensive program at the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC. and in 2016 attended the prestigious Bolshoi Ballet Academy where she will also train in 2017. Sofia has been awarded the Title of Miss Junior Dancer, Kids Artistic Review and NYCDA Outstanding Dancer finalist. In addition, Sofia has been the recipient of many high score overall awards and Titles for her solos as well a recipient of many convention scholarships.
Sofia’s goal is to one day be proficient enough to be accepted to an annual pre-professional ballet school, and then develop a new goal in dance to work towards. When Sofia is not in school or dancing, she enjoys traveling with her parents, especially to the beach or to Disney World, to recover from the long and harsh Michigan winters.
