A native of New York City, It was at the age of 10 that Stephen had first received formal training in Broadway & Tap dance as a singer and dancer for the Boys Choir of Harlem. At the age of 11, Stephen Hill embarked on a nation wide tour with the Boys Choir of Harlem and His passion or performance would take him across the map, spanning through 45 states in US, Canada, and Japan. Since then, he's branched outside of his broadway and jazz techniques through his adolescent years, expanding himself as a well rounded dancer.
Stephen Hill's studies in dance include Jazz technique under Leslie Dockery and Niami Keyes, hip hop under Sule Thompson and Terrance Wright, exposure to contemporary dance by his mentor Walter Rutledge, training in ballet with Karen Stewart, and modern techniques include Graham, Limon, and Horton through Erin St. John. Stephen Hill has studied dance at The College of Staten Island and minored in dance at Barry University. He has also taken classes at Dance New Amsterdam (DNA studios), Alvin Ailey, Harlem school for the arts, and Broadway Dance Center in New York City.
as a dancer, Stephen Hill has worked with several organizations. These companies include Alt3r Ego hip hop dance company in Manhattan, fahreinhieit 305 hip hop dance team in Miami, the International Cultural Dance club at the College of Staten Island, and the Riverbank Dance Collective. He has also been a member of Barry University's Repertory Dance Ensemble (BURDE) and spent the 2011-2012 season as the president and choreographer for Art In Motion (AIM) Productions at Barry University in Miami Shores, FL. Stephen is currently a dancer for A Mixed Bag & Company, Inc.; a jazz based dance troupe in Brooklyn.
Stephen Hill's credits as a choreographer with begins with his first work called Boys, a festive Caribbean piece set to the music of M.I.A. Stephen has collaborated with previous organizations including AIM and BURDE to assist in directing and choreographing works featured in Barry University's dance recital. Aside from collaborative dance pieces, Mr. Hill has created nearly 40 works as a choreographer in several genres including Ballroom, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip-Hop, Pop, & Caribbean. Stephen Hill has also created 2 full length contemporary Ballets "Thesis" and "transient Phases" and 1 contemporary jazz piece entitled "Stalemate".
As a director, Mr. Hill has cast, directed, choreographed, and produced two shows with AIM Productions, including AIM Productions' Spring 2011 show entitled "Room for Improvement: A journey of the human introspective through dance" as well as AIM Spring 2012 show "Fantastic Voyage". He's also sat on the creative team for several dance concerts and special events at Barry University from 2010 - 2012.
Stephen Hill is currently a dancer for the riverbank dance collective and A Mixed Bag & Company, Inc. He is also a dance instructor for takelessons.com and is in the process of creating several short conceptual dance films for a new dance company.
