James A. Washington, originally from Rochester, NY, began his dance training at Dance 22. He graduated cum laude from the Conservatory at Point Park University, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in dance. He has had the honor to work with and perform pieces by Sidra Bell, Camille Brown, David Parsons, Kyle Abraham, Darrell Grand-Moultaire, Robert Battle, Daniel Ezralow, Cheryl Mann, Christopher Huggins, and Azsure Barton among others. James was ranked Top Five for the 2012 International Chorography Competition at Giordano Jazz Dance World Congress. James is a founding member of the August Wilson Center Dance Ensemble (“Top 25 to Watch” – 2012, Dance Magazine) under the direction of Greer Reed in Pittsburgh, PA. Finally, James joined the Creative Team of “The Bench: Journey into Love” musical dance spectacular as rehearsal and staging director alongside creator Keisha Lalama and assistant choreographer Jason McDole.
