Alice By Heart

The Johns Hopkins University Barnstormers are seeking a Director/Choreographer for their Spring 2027 production of Alice By Heart.

Entirely student-run theatre group performing the show in the Hopkins Student Center Theatre, a new, flexible theatre space on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus in Baltimore, MD.

Design meetings (cutting the script and designing the set) as early as January 30th, 2027, in person or virtually.

We hope to hold auditions February 5th - 7th and begin rehearsals immediately afterwards.

Performances: April 16-17, April 23-24 at 8:00 pm, and April 18, April 25 at 3:00 pm

Typical rehearsal schedule six days a week: generally 3 hours every weeknight (starting between 6 and 7:00 pm) and a longer rehearsal (usually in the afternoon) on whichever day of the weekend has fewer student conflicts.

The Barnstormers is completely extracurricular. Housing is not included, but the group can assist in finding affordable housing in the area for out-of-towners.

The Director/Choreographer will be expected to work closely with student actors and technical designers to foster their creativity, create a positive environment, and build a production that incorporates a student-led vision.

Salary: $3,500 for the Director, with up to a $500 stipend for travel expenses.

Director/Choreographer who can be collaborative and flexible throughout the production process.

Applicants must be available for the director interview on one of November 16th-20th and for the period February 5th to April 16, 2027.
