Description
Dissonance Dance Theatre is seeking skilled dance artists for project dancer roles in its 20th Anniversary Season.
Production Info
Production: spring 2027 production (January 2027 rehearsals). Full-month rehearsal commitment required.
Rehearsals and in-person auditions take place in Washington, DC.
Artistic Leadership: Shawn Short, Kareem Goodwin
Pay Details
DDT pays its artists. Every contract is compensated.
Paid per production: fall and spring engagements each receive a separate production contract payment. Dancers who commit to both productions receive up to $6,000 for the full 2026–27 season.
Housing assistance is available for out-of-area dancers.
Requirements
- Training in contemporary, modern, classical ballet, jazz technique, and African dance forms
- Contemporary & modern technique (Horton, Limon, Graham)
- Classical ballet foundation
- Jazz technique
- African diaspora dance forms (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years professional or pre-professional training
- Ability to learn and retain choreography quickly
- Strong collaborative work ethic
- Available for July 2026 and/or January 2027 rehearsals in Washington, DC
- Minorities strongly encouraged to apply
