Energetic, determined, and deeply connected to his community, he dreams of earning enough money to someday return to the Dominican Republic. Beneath his optimism, he is struggling financially and doing his best not to let it show. Must be a highly skilled rapper.
  • NINA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 18–25. Bright, academically gifted, and ambitious. She has always been viewed as someone destined for great things, but now finds herself confronting uncertainty about her future and where she belongs. Hopeful and somewhat idealistic, she is learning how to navigate the world beyond what she knows.
  • VANESSA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 20s–30s. Vibrant, funny, and full of personality. She is smart and spirited, with dreams that extend beyond the neighborhood. Her confidence can quickly give way to frustration or moodiness, and she carries more pressure and anxiety than she readily allows others to see.
  • BENNY - Black, Male (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), early to mid-20s. A confident, driven young man working for the local taxi company while aspiring to something bigger. Charming and entrepreneurial, he is determined to improve his circumstances without losing the street smarts and easygoing nature that make him comfortable anywhere in New York City.
  • SONNY - Latiné, Male (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 18–25. Quick-witted, socially aware, and effortlessly funny. He can be surprisingly insightful and politically engaged one moment and an ordinary young guy obsessed with video games the next. A lovable neighborhood personality with humor, heart, and a mischievous streak.
  • KEVIN - Latiné, Male (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 38 to late 50s. A respected businessman, devoted father, and natural negotiator whose warmth makes him an effective wheeler-dealer. Years of hard work and physical strain have begun to catch up with him, but his pride remains intact. Traditional in his outlook, he is fiercely committed to providing for his family and maintaining his place as its leader.
  • CAMILA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 40s. Strong, elegant, practical, and deeply perceptive. A generous presence who is always willing to step in and help others without expecting anything in return. She values family, tradition, and community and is actively involved in the lives of the people around her.
  • CLAUDIA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 50s–70s. Proud, warm, and resilient, with the perspective of someone who has spent a lifetime working hard. A working-class woman who supported herself by cleaning homes and now finds herself in the later years of her life. She carries the history of an earlier generation while still enjoying the simple comforts of everyday life, including plenty of television.
  • DANIELA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 30s. A confident, no-nonsense businesswoman who knows exactly what is happening in the neighborhood and is more than happy to discuss it. Bold, outspoken, and the reigning queen of gossip. Excellent comic instincts and timing are essential.
  • CARLA - Latiné, Female (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 20s. Fun-loving, social, and youthful, with an infectious enthusiasm for dancing, beauty, and spending time with the people around her. A lively presence with plenty of personality.
  • PIRAGUA MAN - Latiné, Male (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), 30s–60s. A colorful and recognizable neighborhood fixture with warmth, personality, and resilience. Must be a strong singer and comfortable with movement.
  • GRAFFITI PETE/ENSEMBLE - Any ethnicity (cisgender, transgender or nonbinary), late teens–early 20s. Cool, street-savvy, expressive, and constantly in motion. A dynamic young presence with exceptional dance ability. Must possess outstanding hip hop dance skills.
  • ENSEMBLE DANCERS - Global Majority performers, all genders, 18–45. Seeking dynamic, technically accomplished dancers with excellent performance energy. Latiné and Black performers are strongly encouraged to submit. Must have strong proficiency in hip hop and multiple styles of Latin dance. Must also be able to sing.
  • ENSEMBLE SINGERS - Global Majority performers, all genders, 18–60. Seeking confident, versatile vocalists with excellent musical ability and strong stage presence. Latiné and Black performers are strongly encouraged to submit. Must sing at a high level and should move well.
