Take Off

Seeking two talented female dancers (ages 19–26) for lead roles in an NYU Tisch graduate short film.

Both roles require strong dance technique, physical control, and expressive movement, alongside nuanced acting and emotional depth. We are looking for performers who can bring both technical precision and compelling on-screen presence to their characters.

This is an opportunity to collaborate on a character-driven short film that combines movement and performance. Selected actors will receive footage from the production for their reels.

The film will be developed as a narrative short with the goal of pursuing film festival submissions and screening opportunities. Selected performers will receive footage for their acting reels, offering an opportunity to showcase their work in a cinematic context.

Shooting in NYC: Dec 4-8, 2026

• Strong dance training and technique
• Comfortable conveying emotion through both movement and performance

• CLAIRE: Female, 19-26. Lead. A disciplined, technically accomplished dancer who prides. Seeking a strong dancer with ballet and/or contemporary dance training and expressive performance skills.
• POPPY: Female, 19-26. Supporting Lead A free-spirited, instinctive dancer who moves with playfulness and abandon. Seeking an expressive dancer with strong improvisational skills and uninhibited physicality.
• JONATHAN: Male, 28-38. Supporting. A relaxed, grounded contemporary choreographer with an unconventional approach to movement. Seeking an actor with a calm, assured presence an natural physicality. Dance on movement experience is a plus.
• ROSANNA: Female, 50-60. Supporting. An elegant, seasoned director of a dance company with the poise and presence of a lifelong dancer.
• Pragmatic, composed, and quietly authoritative. Seeking an experienced actor with an elegant, dancer-like presence, graceful physicality, and the ability to convey authority, professionalism, and understated warmth.
