Parachute
Technique comes first, then fun, in this full-out jazz combination. Strong, clear arms and shoulders lead the upper body, and the lower body keeps the work from the exercise: high passés, straight knees, stretched feet and a quick spot.
It starts quietly. The arms scoop up and swim out, like pulling taffy, while the head circles and the hips roll.
Three or four pirouettes follow, stepping back into the prep. Later come a fan kick, a drop to the floor, piqués around the room and a ball change into a roll.
