6 Steps and Turns
This across-the-floor exercise is full of quick, sharp jazz technique. Leave the cool contemporary, lyrical or hip hop movement for a moment and hone what jazz is built on.
You face the direction you're travelling and begin with a six step, arms straight out to the side. Then comes the pirouette: high passé past the knee, arms in first, shoulders down and an immediate spot.
The second time through, the prep is faster, so you can reach for three turns.
