Rhythm Layering

This exercise is built from two rhythms played with a partner. Take them apart, then layer them back together.

The first rhythm is the metronome. Keep it even and solid, with toe drops that finish the tone. The second rhythm floats in and out of the first, so mind the space around the beats. Learn it slowly and pick up the pace gradually. Once both sit snug, explore further and build the connection you need on stage.
