Jazz Tendu Exercise

A tendu exercise at the barre that works parallel positions and adds a shoulder isolation. Parallel is the starting point. Whenever the leg goes off the floor to the side it turns out; everything else stays parallel. Legs alternate front, side, back, side.

On three, plié both legs without putting weight in the right. The arms shoot out like cutting through the air. Then comes the shoulder isolation, which feels wonderfully weird. Lift the shoulder as if someone were above you, grabbing your arm.
