Improv/Dynamic Work
This improvisation exercise treats stillness as part of the dance. It gives you two eight counts of improv on a diagonal, then a full eight counts of doing nothing but turning your head.
Keep one idea running through the improv: chin dropped, shoulders in, eyes up, something sinister. You can open out and come back in, but that stance is your anchor. Even a leg swing carries it.
The stillness is harder than it sounds. Then a jump, an elbow lift and a punch send you on your way.
