Down the Staircase
Start small in this combination, so there's room to grow. The same footwork comes back three times, and each time it gets bigger: a rock, then ball changes, then arms and a head shake. A high ponytail, a hint of Fosse and a little frug make it a swinging-sixties party.
The tempo is fast. Compress and stay in your plié. Then it turns gooey for a stretch, with contractions that ball in and expand like a slinky, before the party returns with tambourine hits on the and counts and a swing at a piñata.
