Many titles can be used to describe Joseph - choreographer, dance teacher and group fitness instructor to name a few - but at his core, Joseph is a teacher. Using his dance, theater and fitness background, Joseph teaches dancers and non-dancers alike to move, exercise, explore their bodies, and express themselves through movement. He has travelled the globe, spreading this love and understanding of the importance of movement to such places as Japan, France, England, and Canada, as well as dozens of cities across the United States. Joseph’s connection to movement started in his early childhood with extensive training in jazz, tap, contemporary, and ballet. At thirteen, he became a member of famed choreographer Marguerite Derricks’s prestigious company, Tremaine Teen Company, and shortly thereafter appeared in Disney’s "Geppetto" alongside pop superstar Usher. Additionally, he was named American Dance Awards’ Teen Male Dancer of the Year. Building on his dance and vocal talent, Joseph journeyed to New York City to pursue a stage career. On Broadway, he appeared in "All Shook Up," and subsequently toured the US with productions of Grease (Dance Captain) and "West Side Story." Other theatrical credits include: "Surf the Musical" at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, playing Mr. Mistoffelees in "CATS"; Juan in "Altar Boyz", "Guys and Dolls" and much more. In additition Joseph has been seen on television in Disney’s "Wizards of Waverly Place", "MTV Dance Marathon" & the CW’s "Hart of Dixie". Inspired by his dance experiences in the theater, Joseph then sought to deepen his performance skills studying acting at the Lee Strasberg Theater and Film Institute & honing his comedic skills with Upright Citizens Brigade. Joseph’s next move was somewhat unexpected, however—at least for him. His desire to be in front of large audiences transformed to a need to be in front of students. Listening to this inspiration, he began to focus, instead, on choreographing and teaching. Joseph’s choreography has been seen on the CW’s hit TV show “Hart of Dixie”, "MTV Video Music Awards", Lifetime’s reality show "Dance Moms", 98 Degree’s lyric music video "Microphone", Julie Brown’s hit musical “Homecoming Queen’s Got a Musical”, “I Totally Know What You Did Last Donna Summer” starring Drew Droege and much more! Perhaps Joseph’s most rewarding endeavor to date, however, is a recent expansion of his teaching as the new owner/creator of 5-6-7-SWEAT! His mission is to strengthen the body and mind through the joy of dance. Classes are currently held at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in Hollywood and at Equinox Gym!
