2016 has been a bit of a brutal year for many reasons, particularly where celebrity deaths are concerned. The arts world has lost several greats this year - Prince, Leonard Cohen, George Michael, and now, Debbie Reynolds. She passed yesterday, December 28th, just one day after her daughter Carrie Fisher, best known for her role in the Star Wards films as Princess Leia. Ms. Reynolds suffered a stroke at her son's home in Beverly Hills, California. She was 84.

Reynolds was a well-known and multi-talented star who got her big break singing and dancing alongside Gene Kelly's in the 1952 film "Singin' In the Rain." Her career was incredibly diverse, ranging from an Academy Award-nominated performance in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown", to TV shows like Will and Grace and The Golden Girls, to beloved Disney Channel classic "Halloweentown." Her wit and endless energy will be greatly missed by our community.
