Description
Seeking dancers for a new work.
Production Info
Kinesis Project dance theatre is a large-scale outdoor dance company bringing crafted dance performance directly to public spaces - advocating for dance as public art. We are in mid-creation process with a new work and are looking for two to three dancers to join us for performances in September and step into the core company.
Rehearsals are two to three days a week, 3 hours each - 6-9 hrs per week - Tues, Thu and some Sundays unless in extended residency.
We are a diverse, welcoming and curious company using contemporary dance forms. If you are someone who would love to be dancing outside -- using rocks, benches, dancing in boots, moving along many different terrains -- this opportunity could be for you.
Our creative process is highly collaborative, co-choreographed and layered. The director/choreographer, Melissa Riker, guides the process and aims to showcase each collaborators' creative voice. Love a dance that starts in a notebook with drawings, writing and squiggles? So do we.
Past and current Kinesis dancers often possess eclectic movement histories in martial arts, Afro-Caribbean dance, acrobatics, circus arts, street forms, House, Waacking, Ballet, modern, post-modern and everything in between.
Dance artists interested in learning or continuing aerial skills are also encouraged to apply.
Dancers hired will learn current choreography from Kinesis company members for September performances, with the option to continue forward with the creative process.
Compensation/Fee
Dancers receive hourly wages monthly in addition to performance fees.
