Description

NO é Artes Performativas is looking for professional dancers / performers for its new creation – My Body? My Sex! – directed by dancer and choreographer NOÉ.

Production Info

“My Body? My Sex!” investigates the relationships between body, sex, sexuality, and gender performativity, critically reflecting on gender, desire, identity, and the power dynamics that traverse bodies in contemporary society.

The creation seeks to explore how age, gender, body types, sexualities, and identities are constantly influenced, regulated, and shaped by social, cultural, and political structures external to the self—and how these constraints condition individual and collective freedom, influencing the way we exist, desire, perform, and relate to one another.

We are looking for performers available for collaborative, vulnerable and physically intense creative processes that are oriented for artistic and performative research.

The premise of the creation invokes precisely the diversity of perspectives on stage, seeking to see it reflected in the bodies and practices present on stage.

Requirements

We are interested in artists open to:

  • Participatory research and creation processes (working with and in community)
  • Use of nudity on stage
  • Improvisation and contact improvisation
  • Vocal exploration
  • Use of high heels
  • Research and exploration of movement and choreographic composition
  • Strong capacity for guided movement interpretation (choreography)

We seek bodies open to risk, vulnerability, critical thinking, and collective creation.
We welcome practices like: jazz; ballroom dance; ballroom (vogue, other categories); street dance; drag performance; pole dance; contemporary circus.

We especially value LGBTQIA+, queer performers and bodies that are frequently underrepresented in creative spaces. We are interested in performers of all ages, body types, sexualities, identities, and backgrounds.
