Seeking NYC and NJ actors/singers/dancers.
Production Info
THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is an hour-long live, interactive production based on the film by Warner Bros. The show includes scripted scenes, live singing, dancing, and a great deal of audience interaction. All performances take place aboard a real, moving train from the Whippany Railway Museum in Whippany, NJ. There are 3-5 rides per show day. Rehearsals take place in NYC.

Tech/Dress/Previews: 10/29/26 - 10/31/26
Opening: 11/1/26
Closing: 12/30/26

Actors will not work every day of the run, but we are seeking actors with full availability. Actors will be divided into 3 casts (Red, Green, and Blue Casts) and will work on a rotation schedule with 2 casts working per show day.
NOTE: A cast shuttle will be provided for actors from Midtown Manhattan to/from the show site in Whippany, NJ. Actors may also self-report if they choose. Housing is not provided.
Compensation/Fee
All roles (except Santa & Hero Child): $22.50/hr
Santa: $36/hr
Hero Child: $25/hr
PAY RATE NOTE: This role is paid on an hourly basis, including ovetime for weeks exceeding 40 hours. Presuming a fully realized performance season (no unexpected cancellations or Acts of God), and if actors work the entirety of their assigned schedule, actors will work approximately 384 total hours from the start of rehearsals to the closing day performance.
HERO CHILD NOTE: The hourly total above is for the adult actors. Hero Child actors will work perform approximately 36 performances for an approximate 92 total hours from the start of rehearsals to the closing day performance.
Roles
- [PRINCIPAL TRIO] Singers/Actors (Musical Theatre Performers), any gender, all ethnicities, to play 20-30; Outgoing, joy-filled, energetic, personable, team player. Actors will perform scripted scenes, holiday songs, and the "Hot Chocolate" song/dance. Role includes a great deal of audience interaction.
- [CONDUCTOR] Male-identifying actor, all ethnicities, to play 35-55; Stern/stoic to goofy, charming, high-energy, personable with a slight serious side. Simple singing and choreography for "Hot Chocolate" song.
- [HOBO] Male-identifying actor, all ethnicities, to play 25-35; High-energy, assertive, gruff, strong-voiced, imposing while masking a joyful heart. Non-singer.
- [SANTA] Male-identifying actor, all ethnicities, to play 45+; Warm, formidable, sincere, full of real joy. Non-singer. Natural beard/mustache NOT required. Slightly younger actors with commanding presence are welcome to submit.
- [SANTA'S ELVES] Dancers/Strong Movers who act, any gender, all ethnicities, to play 20-25; Energetic, kind, effusive, loves kids. Simple but high energy dancing required. Role also includes a great deal of audience interaction. Non-singing.
- [HERO CHILD] Youth actors, all genders and ethnicities, to play 11-13 yrs old; 5'3" or under; Sincere, kind, clear and present speaking voice. Non-singer. Memorized scene work will be required.
