The pas de bourrée is a three-step jazz pattern, front, side, in place, and it turns up all over jazz as a transition, a preparation or a way to travel.
The first foot crosses in front of the other. The second steps to the side. The third lands in place. It can stay flat or rotate, and either way the weight has to travel with each step.
