The Suzanne Farrell Ballet, headed by the Balanchine icon herself, has announced it will close after its December 2017 performances. The company, which has been supported by the Kennedy Center in New York City since it began in 2006, employed anywhere from 16 to 46 dancers for a five to sixteen week season. Farrell is highly regarded not only for her teaching abilities, but for her deep knowledge and personal experience with Balanchine’s works. Though the company will no longer perform, Farrell will continue to teach at Florida State University, as well as at the Kennedy Center.
