Pretty soon, Degas' painting and sculptures won't be the only dancers at New York's Met Museum!
The Met has appointed their first ever choreographer-in-residence for their upcoming season. Andrea Miller, director and choreographer of Brooklyn based company Gallim Dance, will be working and creating throughout the year in partnership with the museum as a part new program, MetLiveArts.
Miller will create a number of works on her company, the first of which will be "Stone Skipping", which will be performed in October at the Temple of Dendur in the Egypt exhibition portion of the museum.
She won't be the only one presenting dance this season. Faustin Linyekula, a dancer and choreographer from the Congo, will create a piece that will be presented in the Met's Spanish courtyard. Eiko Otake will make works for the Met's main campus, as well as the Met Breuer and their uptown location, the Cloisters.
